I’M BA-ACK!

Did you miss me?

Aww, I missed you too! I promise I wasn’t too far away….just on a different platform. But with the New Year and the many changes that come with it, I wanted to share a few of the resolutions I’m planning on keeping for 2018, the first being: getting back to sharing beauty secrets and fangirling about my faves from the big screen to the store shelves right here.

Want to know what else I’m hoping to achieve during 2018? Check them out under the cut!

Stop Being So Thirsty! — Nope, I’m not talking about fawning over everyone’s current Internet boyfriend, but actually about my skin hydration. Winter only started a few weeks ago, and it’s already unbearable (so over it). The windchill and indoor heat tag-team not only zapping reducing humidity in the air, they also zap the skin of the hydration it needs in order to stay healthy. So aside from staying hydrated, I’ve invested in a slew of moisturizers to my skin soft and supple from head to toe, including Origin’s classic Drink Up! Intensive Overnight Mask and Lush’s Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner, which I’ve quickly become addicted to. Pro Tip: start by slathering a water-based moisturizer while you’re still damp from the shower and then add a layer of body cream or oil-based moisturizer to seal in the hydration.

Plus, I recently picked up a cool-air humidifier to moisten the atmosphere indoors, so I don’t wake up with shriveled and parched skin.

Sharpen My Skills — With a busy day and an early commute ahead of me, my primping tends to focus on my face more than my strands. In fact, I can’t really braid beyond a classic three strands or fishtail (Yeah, I know). I’ve seen my hair do some spectacular things in the hands of experts, but I haven’t really bothered with trying to recreate them myself. But with the New Year here, I’m planning to take some time (at least once a week) to play with my hair beyond slicking it into a pony or space buns and see what else my hair can really do…and how long each will take. So stay tuned!

Break The Rules — If I’ve learned anything this past year, it’s that beauty rules are meant to be broken. As many vibrant colors of lip, eye, and face products that  that hit selves in 2017, I’ll admit I tended to stick to the same shades daily (usually from the Urban Decay Heat Palette) since getting creative can cost precious minutes when trying to get out of the door. But now’s the perfect time to set that palette aside to play with the many other shades of the rainbow, along with a few Instagram-beloved techniques I’ve been dying to try, to boost my cosmetic creativity. Besides with Ultra Violet being named Pantone’s 2018 Color of the Year (my favorite color), there’s no reason why I shouldn’t go bold!

Invest In Anti-Aging — Don’t let this baby face fool you! I’m approaching 30 (and still dealing with bad breakouts, ugh!) but I’m planning to keep my skin at its best for as long as possible. Sunscreen has been my go-to skin care essential since I started scribbling about beauty, as most pre-mature aging is caused by sun damage. But now’s the time to start looking more into anti-aging ingredients beyond retinol (though it works on both wrinkles and pimples) to prevent heavy lifting later on as I get older. After all, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
