Besame Cosmetics Is Creating An Avengers: Infinity War Collection!

Photo: Marvel/Disney via YouTube.

Hold onto your popcorn, kittens! In the week leading up to the release of Avengers: Infinity War, Besame’s throwing down the gauntlet on cosmetic collaborations with a mini Marvel collection!

The brand made the surprise announcement in a livestream of its Agent Carter collection launch during Disneyland’s Dapper Day celebration. It’s an annual celebration at Disney parks where guests are invited to show off their “refined style from yesterday and today with fun accessories and events.” (Which my pal Misti, who also runs CousinsWhoDisney, told me about) The collection is modeled after the highly coveted Infinity Stones that we’ve seen pop up throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe that are tied to different aspects of the universe. And with Thanos having all of those all-powerful and brightly colored gems in hand, the universe is in for a world of hurt unless the Avengers and the Guardians of The Galaxy can save it.

Sneak a Peek at Erdem for NARS’s Strange Flowers Collection

Sure with snow and chilly temperatures in our forecasts, it’s hard to believe that it’s technically spring. But Erdem and NARS already have their sights on summer by shaking up the season with a garden of strange flowers.

I know what you’re thinking — Florals? How Groundbreaking. But for a season synonymous with beach babes and mermaids, wandering through NARS’s garden of delights is more of a dreamy experience thanks to Erdem’s signature dark romance. So you know this isn’t your average flower patch with a barrage of what the brand calls “demure and daring” hues for eyes, lips, and cheeks — all wrapped in . “It was really interesting to explore my aesthetic in collaboration with NARS and see how far we could push different elements through color and product,” Erdem said when the collection made its runway debut. “It was fascinating to develop new pigments and palettes as well as the cosmetics themselves.”

There’s not one but two eye palettes to play with that provides buildable coverage across your lids, including the Fleur Fatale, which comes with softer hues suited for everyday wear, and the Night Garden, which delivers a serious dose of drama for those nights on the town. Fans of the brand’s iconic Multiples will likely fall head over heels for Erdem’s icy, pink-toned take on a highlighting pencil. Plus there’s the addition of fresh products for the brand like blotting papers, which are a must for anyone who battles against serious shine during the warmer months of the years. There’s also the new lip powder palette that allows for makeup mavens test-drive different textures and even customize their own color when paired with the lush array of lipsticks that provide plenty of pigment, no matter how subtle or bold the shade you snap up.

And you won’t have to wait much longer to snatch these fresh floral-inspired finds, as the collection will be available at NARS Boutiques and NARSCosmetics.com starting on April 12th before hitting the shelves of Sephora on the 30th. But keep in mind that only the Voodoo Lily, Wild Flower, and Larskpur lipstick shades will be available there, so you might want to set your shopping alerts for early on the 12th if you’re looking to complete the collection.

Here’s When the Aaliyah x MAC Collection Will Hit Shelves

Embed from Getty Images

We won’t have to wait much longer to get our hands on the MAC collection commemorating the late (and still great) R&B songstress, Aaliyah.

Though the collaboration was announced back in August 2017, fans hadn’t heard much more until yesterday when the brand tweeted that the collection will be released online on June 20th and will hit MAC store the next day. The Aaliyah collection shares a similar origin story last year’s Selena x MAC collaboration, as the singer was a well-known MAC fan who often wore “Chelsea Lipstick, Cherish Lipstick, Chestnut Lipliner, espresso eyeshadow, and biscuit eyeshadow,” according to a fan petition to the brand that was launched back in 2015. The petition received support with over 26,000 signatures as well as serious support from her brother Rashad HaughtonMissy Elliott, and even Aaliyah’s former makeup artist Eric Ferrell.

After hearing the fans loud and clear, MAC is tapping them to help celebrate the star’s studio and screen achievements with a short film called “A-Z of Aaliyah” made in partnership with i_D. According to the brand’s Instagram post, superfans can post a photo or video of themselves showing how Aaliyah has inspired them and tag the hashtags #AtoZofAaliyah and #AaliyahForMAC, and the top submissions will be flown to New York to be a part of the video.

And if that weren’t enough good news, the beauty brand took to Instagram to offer a look at what fans can expect to snap up when the collection drops this summer. The first picture featured a tawny brown lipstick synonymous with the ’90s that fans are guessing will be called “Rock the Boat” after her final single (though I think the cafe au lait-colored lipstick could easily be called Baby Girl after Timbaland and Missy’s nickname for her). The second showcases an eye palette filled with smoky shades, similar to the hues she wore in videos like “Try Again,” “We Need a Resolution,” and “Are You That Somebody,” as well a few shimmering shadows for a dash of dazzle.

I couldn’t be more excited to get my hands on a small tribute to her legacy. I started listening to her when I was eight years old, singing her sultry songs even when I didn’t realize how inappropriate they were for how young I was at the time. She had such a cool and mysterious vibe, thanks to her signature deep side part that hid half of her face, the shades she sported, and her stylish mix of masculine and feminine fashion that made her stand out against from the crowd on MTV.Even her turn as Queen Akasha in Queen of the Damned was still inspiring to me as she was not only one of the first (and few) vampires of color I had seen on screen, making it an easy costume choice that following year. But what cemented her as a beauty icon in my mind, as well as the rest of the girls in my middle school, was the blocky gray smoky eye that Ferrell created for her iconic “Try Again” video. Many attempted but few succeeded at recreating the eye look from the hit single from the soundtrack from her 2000 film Romeo Must Die. And after this social media sneak peek, I plan on practicing that look with the smoldering shadow palette, because after all, she did say, “If at first you don’t succeed, dust yourself off and try again…”

What do you plan on picking up from the collection?

What Beauty Buys Will Be In Besame’s Agent Carter Collection?

Somebody call Jarvis because Agent Carter’s got a new mission: makeup!

Besame Cosmetics shared a cryptic message on its site and a teaser on Instagram on Tuesday to announce that its upcoming collection inspired by the old-school spy will drop during the week of April 23 (the same week Avengers: Infinity War Part 1  is slated to hit theaters), offering 24-hour notice to those who subscribed to the brand’s email list. The release date comes after months of eager anticipation since the brand initially announced the collaboration last year with no details on what would be included in the makeup menagerie.

It’s a pretty big deal for Marvel fans who have missed seeing the agent’s weekly adventures since the show’s cancellation in 2016. Peggy Carter first shined on screen alongside Captain America in his first solo film in the Marvel Universe franchise, subsequently popping up in Captain America: Winter Soldier, Ant-Man, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and ABC’s Agents of Shield before landing her own show that lasted for two seasons. But the show’s “canceled” status didn’t deter fans, who aside from working to decode the clues surrounding the upcoming collaboration have petitioned Marvel to revive the show (hey, everything is getting a reboot lately). And with the frenzy surrounding the upcoming cosmetic collab, it might offer more incentive for the comic book company to bring the secret agent back to the small screen.

Serena Williams Is Launching Her Own Beauty Line

Embed from Getty Images

She’s conquered the tennis court and slayed the style game, but it looks like Serena Williams is ready to serve up something new: her very own beauty line!

TMZ recently reported that the all-star athlete filed legal documents to trademark the name “Aneres” (which, while it sounds like the name of  Game of Thrones characters, is actually Serena spelled backward) for a cosmetics line back in January. She had previously applied for a trademark on the reversed version of her name for a clothing line back in 2003 that fell through and reapplied for it again in 2016, according to the United States Patent and Trademark Office. While she hasn’t announced anything regarding the line, the filing details that she’ll be using her moniker to bring the beauty line, which will include everything from skincare to cosmetics to fragrance to bath and body care to even hair care and styling products, to life.

Given the fact that Williams loves to look glam on and off of the court ( I still can’t get over this gilded pony she rocked at the 2017 Glamour Women Of The Year Awards), I could easily see a makeup collection and maybe even a dry shampoo, which was also listed in the filing, designed to stand up to serious sweat in the near future. In fact, big beauty brands like Tarte and Clinique have already released their own gaggle of gym bag goodies in recent years to much fanfare. But I feel like Williams could easily smash the cosmetics competition by taking a 360-degree approach to her athleisure array of beauty buys, delivering easy and effective solutions whether you’re a barre babe, a busy mom, or both!

So while we’re all keeping our fingers crossed for more details on the upcoming launch, I’d start saving my pennies now so you can snag every items on your wishlist once it’s finally served up!

Tarte’s Be a Mermaid and Make Waves Palette Is Making A Splash At Sephora!

Photo via tartecosmetics.com

Tarte is ready to dive head-first into spring with a siren-inspired palette that already has makeup mavens dreaming of a sweet seaside escape.

Exclusively available at Sephora (for now), the limited-edition palette comes in the form of an iridescent clamshell-shaped compact that would be perfectly at home inside of Ariel’s underwater grotto of untold treasures. Inside, you’ll find scales featuring 14 matte and metallic shadow shades that are perfectly suited for the shore that are designed to stay put, thanks to the Amazonian clay-infused formula. The hues offer an amazing array of makeup looks ranging from soft and subtle neutrals to vibrant bolts of bold color. Some of the standout shades that the brand swatched on its Instagram page include the deep blue teal of Lagoon, the shimmering sea green of Splash, the bold bronze of Shell Yeah, and the rustic red of Beach Please.

It’s no surprise that we’re having a bit of a mermaid moment as, according to Popsugar, sirens are slated to make a big splash this year — and it’s not just because of those fishtail blankets that everyone added to their holiday wish lists last year either. In fact, there are already at least two The Little Mermaid remakes heading to theaters soon, a new tv show called Siren coming to Freeform this month, and even mermaid-inspired fitness classes popping up throughout the country designed to get you to flip and flex your fins. And I’m sure there will be more mermaid must haves to come!

And with this new pretty palette, beauty buffs won’t be able to stop themselves from Instagramming it with a cluster of clamshells as soon as they get their hands on it or whipping it out at a pool party as they channel their inner Ariel (after all, was she everyone’s favorite Disney princess when they were growing up?). I say you can totally lean into the look even further by pairing the palette with your go-to texturizing spray — John Frieda’s Beach Blonde Sea Waves Sea Salt Spray would be perfect in this instance — and a lip gloss that delivers a wet-shine finish, and consider yourself set to stun whether by land or by sea.

Tati Westbrook’s Halo Beauty Line Is Almost Here!

Photo via HaloCosmetics.com

We’re counting down the final hours until Tati Westbrook‘s recently announced Halo Cosmetics is slated to go live!

The makeup artist and YouTube phenom has spent years on the platform sharing her best beauty tips and delivering straightforward product reviews that have garnered her millions of fans across social media. And for almost as long, those fans have called on Westbrook to branch out with a line of her own, and finally, just over a week ago, the beauty guru dished on the details in two video clips.

The line is set to launch March 2nd, aka tomorrow! But while most were expecting to add a highlighter or other makeup must to their cart, Westbrook announced that her brand would first focus on delivering beauty from the inside with a hair, skin, and nail booster nutriceutical supplement. “[It] is working from the inside out, which, to me, is a more potent and better way to deal with some of your issues with dry skin and appearance issues than a moisturizer or makeup. Those are just icing on the cake,” she explained in the video clip announcing the launch. “And I promise we will get there. I do want to grow as a brand — I have a lot in mind with where I want to go, but we’re starting here.”

OMG, Chromat’s Coming to Nordstrom In Sizes Up to 3X!

A post shared by CHROMAT (@chromat) on

Chromat’s been known for delivering eye-catching designs dressed on models of all sizes since it first rocked the runway at New York Fashion Week back in 2010. But the “future-forward body wear” brand is celebrating a big breakthrough: it’s coming to Nordstrom with an order that includes sizes up to 3X!

Chromat’s designer Becca McCharen-Tran shared the good news during a panel for the opening of the Fashion Institute of Technology’s latest exhibit, “The Body: Fashion and Physique,” where she sat alongside Christian Siriano and Kim Jenkins, a professor and lecturer at both Parsons and Pratt Institute, to discuss increase in inclusivity in the indutry. Slated to hit Nordstrom in March or April (just in time for Spring Break), McCharen-Tran told Refinery29 that though she’s nervous and excited about the it, she’s already ahead of the curve — yes, pun intended — to fulfill the unexpected order with help from a factory with curve sizing experience. After all, it’s been her mission to create clothes for all bodies that made Chromat’s show one of the most-watched during Fashion Week and earned her a runner-up spot for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund in 2017, according to Fashionista. But those sizes haven’t always been readily available on store shelves. “We were so surprised,” McCharen-Tran told Refinery29. “That’s why the order with Nordstrom is so important. It’s the first time a retailer has been so supportive of our curve inclusive mission.”

So what’s kept the brand’s larger sizes off the sales rack until now? According to McCharen-Tran, it’s the fact that retailers haven’t reached out about them. The designer noted that the burgeoning brand has been wholesale focused, producing only what had been ordered from major retailer like Barneys and Revolve, who never asked for them. “No one has ever bought above a size large for us,” she said. “Barneys has never bought above a size large, so we were producing extra sizes on our own.”

The good news comes on the heels of Nordstrom recently stocking the sales floor with straight and curve offerings from Khloe Kardashian‘s Good American brand sitting side by side on the rack instead of separting them. It’s an annoyingly common practice at brick and mortar stores which often places plus-size sections in a corner or on a completely seperate floor, almost out of sight of others because heaven forbid a larger woman is seen shoping alongside her straight-sized counterparts. But McCharen-Tran has hope that small steps like these will not only lead to more visibility for diverse body types beyond the runway and less segregation on the sales rack but also to universal sizing standards. “Hopefully that’s where retail is heading, to be honest,” she said, though Siriano noted that it could depend on the types of garments and the materials used to create them. “So that everyone can know based on their measurements what size they are anywhere.”

So now’s the time to rewatch the Chromat’s Spring 2018 recent runway to start thinking about which of the chic swimsuits styles you’re planning to add to cart as soon as they arrive at Nordstrom!

Nicola Formichetti’s Nicopandas Come Out to Play With MAC

Photo: MAC Cosmetics via Teen Vogue

When I first started playing with makeup — not just swiping my mom’s lipsticks, but actually receiving play makeup to mess around with — I tended to go really wild when I dressed up. Smearing creamy blue and white shadows on my lids, applying layer after layer of thick pink gloss, and using my stash of stick-on earrings as jewels to dot all over to accent my look was all part of the prepwork before donning what I pretended was a gown before presiding over my subjects. And while I don’t play princess as often as I used to, that playful attitude has stuck around.

It’s also what drew designer Nicola Formichetti, who many might know as the former Mugler creative director who had Lady Gaga rock his first runway, to finally link up with MAC Cosmetics. The head of Nicopanda has a long histroy with the beauty, having previously paired up for a number of campaigns over the, including Gaga’s Viva Glam campaigns. “They have always been very supportive of me and my creativity,” he explained to Teen Vogue. “It was a natural progression to create product together with Nicopanda. They are like family, and we really trust each other.”

Photo: MAC Cosmetics via Teen Vogue

But this time, Formichetti wanted to bring his brand, which he says is all about “trying new things, sharing and creating new ideas,” to the beauty counter by letting his creative spirit run wild to craft a collection that is meant for everyone who loves who likes to play with pigments. “Diversity and inclusivity are part of everything I do and Nicopanda does,” Formichetti said of the collection that is slated to hit MAC’s website on April 5th and MAC stores and Macy’s on April 11th. “Working on this project, I was inspired because everyone had their own take on how they wanted to play with the color palettes — a total freedom of expression.”

That sense of spirit transformed into a collection chock with pretty pastels and other unconventional color combos in the form of three Full Face Kits called Stay Cute, Preppy Panda and Primapanda as well as six matte lipsticks that the glossy notes range from seafoam green (Galactic Mint) to deep plum (Toung ’N’ Chic). Not to mention, there’s a plethora of Formichetti’s signature pandas dotted all over the packagaing and even topping some of the makeup brushes in the collection. “I spent a lot of time really perfecting the packaging. I wanted to bring together the beauty of MAC design with the Nicopanda motif, and I am really happy with the results. It’s pretty incredible because packaging for this collection is unlike anything previously done by MAC.”

But the most unique (and most likely to sell out the fastest) is the face stickers that come in the shape of flowers, hearts, bows, as well as punctuation marks and Nicopanda heads — all decked out in glitter. Stick-on face accessories have been a staple in the industry, but in recent years, they’ve been remixed to appear more delicate and darling, like Milk’s series of tattoo stamps and Flirt Cosmetics Chicers, than these daring ones from MAC. That’s not to say you can’t lean into the look with a face full of them. In fact, Formichetti fully encourages makeup mavens to come up with with their own cool combinations, something he admits he’s spent hours doing. After all, what’s the point of playing with makeup if you’re not having fun? “Beauty can be the most simple and natural look or something totally over-the-top and crazy because it’s an opportunity to both empower and express,” he said. “It’s our differences that make us unique and beautiful.”

If you want to get up close and personal with some of the products int heupcoming collection, I suggest you head over to Teen Vogue to get a gander at some of them before marking your calendars for April 5th if you’re planning to shop online or April 11th when it hits stores. Either way, let me know what you’re planning to pick up in the commenst below!
