May the Fourth Be With You: Chic Star Wars Swag to Add to Your Collection

A post shared by Val’s Vanity (@valsvanity) on

“May the 4th be with of you!”

When it comes to Star Wars, there is no such thing as too much merch, especially since the franchise was acquired by Disney. And it’s gone far beyond action figures, t-shirts, and Lego sets. Since The Force Awakens was released, there has been an explosion of Star Wars-themed, well, everythingAnd with Solo hitting theaters this month, the mania doesn’t look like it’ll be calming down anytime soon.

With the plethora of products on display from fashion and beauty to even housewares and home decor, there’s plenty of ways to show your love for the ever-growing film franchise on this special day. But everything need not have the bold logo emblazoned across it in order to pay homage. In fact, some of the most recent iterations are subtler than some of the products we’ve collected in the past. So I decided to search the shelves for some chic ways to honor the story that took place in a galaxy far, far away because for die-hard fans, Star Wars day isn’t just today or tomorrow (you know, Revenge of the Fifth), it’s a 365-days a year kind of thing.

Lando Calrissian Steals The Show in Star Wars “Solo” Trailer

While I  don’t regret having skipped the Super Bowl this year (Go Giants!), I do bemoan the fact that I didn’t take to Twitter as soon as the teaser for the upcoming Solo: A Star Wars Story teaser trailer because, boy, were people excited and it only increased as the full trailer dropped this morning! But it wasn’t over the seeing the Millennium Falcon take off with the young Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich) at the helm, it was the first peek of Donald Glover (who had put production on the second season of his show, Atlanta, on hold for) as the suave smuggler Lando Calrissian.

And it wasn’t hard to see why, as the teaser featured the Glover draped in a fur coat (thankfully not Wookie fur or that would’ve been awkward), confidently smiling and posing for a slew of camera flashes, a similar attitude that many fans were hoping to see from the movie’s title character in the clip.  And even as the full trailer was unleashed and we got to see Calrissian look terrified alongside Solo and Chewie as they navigate through a tangle of tentacles. But those tiny snippets were enough to send fans into a frenzy, taking to Twitter to not only share excitement but plenty of memes as well.

Star Wars: The Fragrance Awakens

When it comes to Star Wars, there is no such thing as too much merch if 2015 was any indication. And the train shows no slowing down with a collection of fragrances hitting beauty counters in a galaxy far, far away (actually, it’s Europe).

German fragrance house Lifestyle Perfumes has just released a series of three scents inspired by the iconic film franchise with two scents for men, modeled after the light and dark side of the force, and one for women—all housed in bottles shaped like lightsabers! This seems to be fleshing out the blockbuster’s hold on the beauty counter, as it previously partnered with CoverGirl for a collection of makeup musts to celebrate the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Jedi is light and bright with fresh notes of mandarin, water lily, and amber while Empire is a spicier affair with notes of cardamom, clove, and patchouli. While specific notes aren’t listed for Amidala, judging by the image the brand shared on Instagram, it appears to be very sweet thanks to tangerine, chocolate, and vanilla in the image and housed in a bottle that matches the color scheme of her Elizabethan-inspired ensemble the Queen wore on her picnic with Anakin on Naboo. There’s a lot of citrus throughout the collection, according to io9. But given its release in June (prime citrus season) and the recent installment, the company could’ve focused their setting on the more lush planets in the galaxy like Endor, D’Qar, and the aforementioned Naboo.

Well if I had known about this sooner, I would’ve just snapped this up for my dad for Father’s Day! Unfortunately, the collection is only available in Europe with no word on if/when it will hit shelves stateside. Now’s the time to get in touch with your forum friends across the pond and see if they can ship you the cool cosmetic collectibles.
